For those of you who don’t know Lewis Mighty was a little boy diagnosed with Neuroblastoma back in 2008, this is a very aggressive form of cancer. His parents started a charity to help pay for various treatments for Lewis and to raise awareness about the condition. Sadly Lewis lost his fight against this disease, he died aged 7.

His story touched the lives of millions despite his condition he was a happy little boy who fought to the very end. Very few can imagine what his family have been through and are now going through. Whilst I am sure Lewis will be greatly missed I have no doubt that many feel a sense of relief in addition to their grief that he is no longer suffering and is no longer in pain.

If you would like to know more about Lewis and the charity feel free to check out the following sites and am sure many of you will join me in sending condolences to his family and friends:

At the moment am trying to overhaul my life, this is requiring me to become more organised which is not something that comes naturally to me. As a result I have had to create a series of to do lists; with a little help. At the moment I have a list telling me what jobs need to be done, when bills need to be paid, deadlines for assignments. In addition to the lists I have also spent time researching various options to develop an effective strategy to help me achieve my goals both long and short term.

Some people may think that this is a little OTT but my memory is terrible and if I want to stand a chance at succeeding then I see nothing wrong with writing things down so that they are done instead of being forgotten.

My eldest started school last September (2011) every so often she will announce that she doesn’t want to be in the group she is currently in, she wants to move up a group. It’s great that she wants to do better however my concern is that when she reaches the top she wont be happy as she will only be able to progress so far, which may alienate her from her peers. When she tells us that she wants to move up a group I usually ask her why she wants to move up and tell her that she will get there if she keeps working hard.

I imagine that there are some of you who have been in a similar situation to me some of the children may want to move groups because of their peers but Lucie wants to move up as she says she finds the work too easy. The issue I have is that yes I want her to be mentally stimulated and be challenged but at the same time I am in no hurry for her to grow up and I don’t want her to skip over the basics and then come unstuck.

Watching an action comedy called RED with an all star cast it is definitely worth watching. See the Wikipedia page for more info. It is loosely based on a comic by the same name created by Warren Ellis and Cully Hammer. RED stands for Retired, Extremely Dangerous.

Even if you don’t really understand the humour, which I didn’t follow; the stunts are pretty impressive. With the likes of Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and John Malkovich it is definitely worth watching. Whilst there are those who claim that these guys are past it I have to disagree, this film proves it. Out of the 4 Willis is the youngest at 57 and Freeman is the oldest if you total the number of years all of these guys have been in the industry you get 160 years. Willis (32), Malcovich (34), Mirren (46) and Freeman (48).

When someone tells me to research tourism or any other subject for that matter my first thought is argh!!! where do I start? I like my tasks to be broken into manageable pieces. It’s not that I’m stupid it’s just when faced with a large not particularly specific task I tend to get a little overwhelmed and so don’t do particularly well.

When I say manageable pieces I don’t mean a step by step breakdown I simply mean using the example of tourism again that it is a little more specific for example the research should include: what is tourism? How does it impact the environment? etc. This gives me a little bit of guidance in order to help achieve the objective without going off on a tangent as the area is a large 1 and so it helps to break it down.

I recently had to address this issue when attempting to carry out some research for a client, the only things they gave me were that they wanted to run a business and what they wanted to sell. This presented a challenge as not only did I have research the item they wanted to sell but also consider aspects such as the best way to sell it.

My youngest child will be 3 next month and still uses her pushchair. Granted she only goes in the pushchair when she is tired some people say she is too old to be in a pushchair I don’t know what I think to this part of me thinks that it’s fine as she isn’t in it all the time and as long as she isn’t in it when she is getting ready to start school then it’s fine. This is partially because I suffer from problems with my back so whilst some parents can carry the child when they are tired, I can’t as the pain in my back gets worse.

Everyone has their own ideas about raising children, whilst I may not always agree with them I do respect them. I just wish people would stop criticising me for my choices. Last time I checked every child is different and they don’t come with instruction manuals so who can say which is the right way to bring up a child, you just need to find the way that works for you

Have heard this saying a lot and have to admit I do agree with it, as a parent, student and a business owner I have found that working my ass off brings rewards. I admit there have been points in my life where I haven’t given things the attention they deserve and you don’t get the results you want. If you are willing to put the work in then the likelihood of success increases. Yes, it is hard work juggling all the commitments in life but if you want something badly enough then you will find a way to make it work.

Some people will be reading this thinking that they know someone who seems to get what they want without doing the work, or will say it’s not what you know it’s who you know and yes I know people like this however, those who don’t do the work eventually become unstuck and lose everything as for the second comment, yes connections are helpful but if you can’t/wont do the work then this isn’t all that helpful as connections will only get you so far.

Just lately there appears to be an ever increasing interest in the supernatural there are number of theories that attempt to explain this: firstly that people are attracted to the danger and the unknown. Other theories is that it allows an escape from reality.

Whatever the reason the number of TV shows and movies involving the supernatural are increasing, with the likes of Harry Potter, the Twilight Saga etc. I admit I am not immune to the supernatural, in my case it is more that they tend to have a good storyline with them. I don’t have 1 specific genre that I enjoy, the only thing is it has to have a good plot otherwise there is no point you can have the biggest names in Hollywood and it will still suck if the plot is weak.

It is not just the film industry that are making the most of this obsession with the supernatural authors are cashing in on it and so are other industries you only have to look around at the amount of merchandise available to see what I mean.

It’s that time of year again when people start getting the garden ready for Summer; we’re no exception. So far have weeded 1 of the flower beds and started the other 1. We’ve got the strawberry plants in and the kids have done their 2 tubs and put them in the mini greenhouse (£10 from Morrisons). All need to do now is cut the lawn and get a few more plants to put some colour back into the flower bed. We’ve also looked at getting some solar lights and maybe a water feature.

I agree with those that say that the garden is an extension of the home as when the weather is nice we use it to entertain, to relax in and the kids to play in so having a few personal items is a great way of expressing this and differentiating your garden from that of your neighbours. There are numerous things you can add to your garden such as ornaments or even signs which can be purchased from lots of different places including garden centres, online stores, even supermarkets.

I have no idea what causes it but my legs go dead, can’t feel a thing from my waist down for varying time spells it so embarrassing as my bladder usually decides to empty during these periods. It is really painful when I regain the feeling in the area, and my legs are usually a bit shaky for the rest of the day. The episodes last anything from 5 minutes to 3 hours and there is no trigger to these episodes which is not fun as I am unable to predict when these episodes to occur.

The worst part is when these episodes occur people tend to point and stare which makes an embarrassing situation worse. I am hoping that my spinal consultant can find what is causing these episodes and hopefully fix them. Thankfully the kids are quite good about it when they happen and don’t run off or anything in actual fact they are quite sweet if I have cut myself when I fall then they try and get someone passing to help but generally they reassure me and give me lots of cuddles

The best advice I can give to anyone who also experiences these episodes is firstly make sure that you always have a spare set of clothes in your bag or some form of incontinence aid. Ensure that your phone is always charged so that you can get assistance if you need it. Also ensure that someone knows where you are going so that they can come and get you, also ensure that your health professional is aware of these episodes
